A FOCUS ON SUCCESS

In 2013 I edited the text of a book co-authored by two colleagues, Karl Meneghella and Dr Steve McKee: 'A Focus on Success'. This is a self-help tome that falls broadly into the category of books inspired by Stephen Covey (1932 - 2012).

Covey, a US popular psychologist and keynote speaker, wrote a number of practical philosophy books aimed at enabling readers to achieve effectiveness and success in business enterprises and in their daily lives.

His best known work was 'The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People'; first published in 1989, this book identifies the concept of achievement with various character principles Covey depicts as universal and cross-cultural. Readers are encouraged to aspire to and prepare for success by aligning their behaviour with these principles.

Covey's most popular book is The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. His other books include First Things First, Principle-Centered Leadership, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families, The 8th Habit, and The Leader In Me — How Schools and Parents Around the World Are Inspiring Greatness, One Child at a Time. He was a professor at the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University at the time of his death.

A reviewer has described this book thus: "A 'must read' for all aspiring entrepreneurs. A book that is grounded in good old common sense mixed with a dash of contemporary thinking, and a fair sprinkling of future preparedness. A recipe for success."
